I had the privilege of interning with the Malaysia Australia Business Council (MABC) as part of my New Colombo Plan Scholarship program. From day one, I felt supported by the team as I learnt more about the critical partnership and bilateral trade between Australia and Malaysia.

My internship with the MABC has been an enriching experience, and bolstered my passion for international affairs, particularly within the Indo-Pacific region. The hands-on experience taught me the role of the MABC and other chambers of commerce in fostering deeper engagement between government agencies and businesses. I particularly enjoyed assisting with the MABC's Women in Business Mentoring Program which connected emerging and established female leaders within the business landscape in Malaysia to build people-to-people links and forge institutional ties. Other highlights included assisting with legislative changes to the MABC constitution, collaborating with the Sub-Committee on Food and Agriculture for the 2023 Malaysia Global Business Forum and drafting speeches for the 2023 AGM.

I am immensely grateful to the wonderful team at the MABC for guiding me during every stage of my internship. I particularly appreciate how the team involves interns in meaningful projects and is always willing to share their wealth of experience. Special thanks to James, Carol and Nisa for being amazing mentors!

Ultimately, I would highly recommend the MABC as an exceptional place to intern for anyone who is interested in learning more about the business landscape within an international context.
