This year marks the 101st anniversary of the Australian and New Zealand Arm Corps (ANZAC) landings at Gallipoli during World War One. On Monday, 25 April 2016, the Australian and New Zealand High Commissions will host an ANZAC Day Commemorative Dawn Service, at Tugu Negara (the National Monument), Jalan Parlimen, Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur.
It has become customary each year, on 25 April, for the people of both nations to commemorate those who served in all wars and conflicts - and recognise the contribution made by all personnel who have served, or are serving, in the armed forces of Australia and New Zealand.
The Dawn Service is open to all members of the public and those attending are requested to be assembled by 6:00am for the service to commence at 6:30am sharp. Dress for the occasion will be lounge suit or smart casual for civilians (with medals if applicable) and ceremonial uniform, with medals , for military attendees. Guests are advised to apply mosquito repellent and carry a small torch. Poppies, rosemary and candles will be provided for the service. A wreath will also be laid at the Dawn Service on behalf of MABC members.
Following the service, the Australian High Commissioner, Mr Rod Smith will host a traditional 'gunfire breakfast' at his residence, No 33, Jalan Langgak Golf, 55000 Kuala Lumpur. Members of MABC who wish to attend the breakfast are required to pre-register by email at email@example.com. Each family member attending should be pre-registered and guests will need to have photo identification with them for entry into the residence. Kindly pre-register by Sunday, 17 April 2016.
